The 1929 Cord L-29, as you all know, was America's First Front Wheel Drive Car. The Auburn Reunion always draws some of the finest examples of these cars. The L-29 Cord was a Plush - Expensive automobile. They were marketed as Baby Duesenbergs

The predicted wet weather may have put a "Damper" on Duesenberg turnout,
but the ones that did show up were... I gotta say it " Duesy's "
(sic)

Kelly and Cecelia Cecil make the trip from there home in West Virginia to Auburn, Indiana each year in their very nice Elegant Motor's 856 Speedster. Look at those smiles, you can tell they are in Auburn, the "Home of the Classics"

After disappearing 30 years ago the Glenn Pray "A-866-PT-001" Auburn Speedster was found this past Spring. This is the 1968 Proto-Type car that Glenn used for testing and personal use. In 1974 it was involved in a front end accident, repaired and later sold at auction. The car fell off the radar until it's current owner Felix DeGeyter received a phone call from a Guy claiming to have found Proto-Type Number 1 and was wanting to sell it. After some pictures were sent, several phone calls and emails the negotiations began, a deal was made and Proto-Type 001 was on it's way from Denver back to the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Co. in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

This particular example of Glenn's Auburn 866 Speedster has many features that are unique to the early cars. 001 is the only Speedster built with the Ford 427 "Nascar" engine. It was recently rebuilt and currently has less than a 1000 miles on it. Felix says that it is FAST! After a few more break in miles he wants to see just how Fast it really is

Below are some of the unique features found on the early 866 Speedsters; Lucas Seal Beams, unique Auburn 8 Hubcaps, Straight 1930's Ford Bumpers, early style Taillights and Gas Fill Cap. Most of the early cars were equipped with 4 Speed Manual Transmissions. All Factory Built 866 Speedsters used 428 Big Block Ford engines and had Functional External Side Exhaust Pipes
